rest in peace now
Now the kidlets are packed off to nursery I can sit here quietly and type what I wanted to the other day (but couldn't).
Dave's nan (mother's side) passed away in the early hours Sunday morning. She has been very poorly for a long time with various problems, broken arm/broken femur and dementia. Last weekend she was admitted to hospital with bad fever and infection which at first the doctors couldn't pin point. She couldn't keep her temperature down and was rapidly going downhill.
It wasn't the hugest surprise to hear she didn't pull through it but it's been very hard on everyone especially Dave's mum. When she came round Sunday morning for Ethan's birthday she couldn't hold back the tears and she started me off too. Nanny hasn't been really 'with' us for about a year. The dementia changed her dramatically and it was difficult to have a proper conversation with her.
Dave's not coping that well either. He only got over his Grandad's (dad's side) death and now his Nan's gone too who he was much closer to. The funeral will be on the 31st, not looking forward to it at all but I hope afterwards everyone can start to try enjoying themselves again. Dave's parents have been so busy looking after both Nanny and Grandad that they're not looking so healthy either. They really need to take some rest and make time for themselves.
I'm okay, it's a bit easier for me dealing with it as Nan wasn't a blood relative to me. I'd only known her for 7-8 years but I reckon it'll hit me on the funeral day.
I just pray now we'll all have a happier year from now on. So far this year has been awful. This will be Dave's 3rd funeral this year. Not a good start at all. I thought 2008 was going to be a positive year where everything was going turn around for the better in all aspects but haven't seen any good yet. Here's to praying!
