patience is being tested
Today has just been one of those days. I'm so tempted to just go out a buy another bottle wine!! (but I won't, I'm not that dependent on the stuff)-yet!Ethan is the reason for this real testing of my reasoning and patience.
He has been off for nearly 2 weeks from preschool and keeping him and Bel amused has been hard. I've done everything I think to entertain them and in a way I think I spoil them.
Negative effects have really surfaced in Ethan today. Letting him play the Wii for a while is something I'll allow when he has been good. So I let him. He then, after a few minutes on the Wii, decides he wants to play on the PS3. Something he is really good at doing is changing his mind. More than other kids do I feel. It's irritating, but anyway, I let him play this PS3 game...
After 5 minutes of this he changes his mind a wants to go on a different level. I said if he didn't keep playing what he was on, I would turn the machine off. He's lucky to get the game on at all so changing minds and abusing the privilege doesn't impress me.
Then he has a huge hissy fit. The system does indeed get switched off. He is taken to his room kicking and screaming and I spoke to him calmly and at his level that his behaviour was not on. I forget to mention he hit me repeatedly before. Not nice from the son you work you're hardest pleasing and giving to.
He eventually calmed down and accepted his punishment by staying in his room. He's still there now and I've told him he'll come back down when dinner's ready.
Fortunately he doesn't get this bad too often. I just hope it's nothing to do with bad mothering from me. I pray it's normal tantrum behaviour and nothing that requires a Supernanny type lady to sort out. He's usually sweet and loving but when he gets a bad temper, he is bloody fierce!
I must be stressed as I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Well I'm going to do my sausage and chips for tea now and get Hubby to listen to my housewife woes.
